Hello E.l.f. Cosmetics nice to see you again!
For awhile now, I am sure we all have all become familiar with E.l.f. Cosmetics, whether we have tried them or not. While I am back in the US visiting, I decided to give E.l.f. another try. I have witnessed how the company had blown up in popularity, but was still shocked seeing the brand in just about every major grocery store and a few department stores. Unfortunately, my first experience with E.l.f. years ago was not a positive one. I used to buy the occasional lipstick or eye shadow from Target back in the day. After repeated fails and always being unsatisfied with the quality, I literally turned my nose up to the brand.
Years later my curiosity peaked, especially with all the super buzz of E.l.f. Cosmetics nowadays…and how could I not give them another shot after they introduced a skincare line!?
To feed my moisturiser obsession, Hello Hydration Face Cream, at $12 price point sounded like a good start. Better yet, if it worked, I would be saving myself some good money!
Hello Hydration! Face Cream comes in sky blue packaging and is cruelty free and vegan. The real draw for me is that it is packed with star ingredients:
- Hyaluronic acid – already naturally found in your body, retains moisture into your skin, can help reduce wrinkles, redness and dermatitis
- Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) – helps with uneven skin tone, dullness, wrinkles, fine lines, and protects against environmental aggressors
- Squalene – a natural antioxidant, helps with fine lines and dry patches
- Peptides – helps firm and smooth skin
- Vitamin B5 – has anti-inflammatory effect and helps with skin softness
The cream is a light and airy texture. It has a soft floral scent that is very pleasing to me, but I could see where some might not be so delighted. It glides onto my combination skin beautifully and absorbed quickly with no heaviness. I usually apply it twice because I do not feel it fully hydrates my skin after cleansing and toning with a glycolic acid toner. I have also had no adverse reactions or clogged pores in the past three weeks, which I am grateful for because my skin tends to be more sensitive during the summertime.
Have I noticed any real mind blowing results? Not entirely, but it does do more than what I was expecting. A major bonus is that it keeps my fine lines plump and my face feels soft and hydrated through the night. The only two drawbacks, I did not like the way it looked with my usual makeup and primer during day use, but then again it could just be the wrong mix of layering products. Eventually I will get around to experimenting with another primer, that might work well. Drawback number two, it is too light for the winter, at least for my skin. So, I am going to hold onto this one throughout the summer, and keep it as a part of my nighttime regime.
This product alone redeemed my once lost faith in E.l.f. Cosmetics. Packed with great ingredients, it really is a lovely moisturiser, and no one should argue at it’s price either! Now, I am once again excited about the E.l.f. brand and will be adding more products to my skin care arsenal.
