While visiting the US, I started a lengthy research on some of the most popular and loved beauty subscription boxes this year. I decided to order a handful of the top “suggested” boxes and will be reviewing each one. The first one to arrive was June 2019’s Allure beauty box. It finally arrived about 2 1/2 weeks after I placed the order. This sub box is affordably priced, with a new subscription right now, you get $5 off your first box, with no need for any special code, making it $10 for the first month and $15 (with free shipping) for the following months thereafter. I was shocked that it arrived and fit in the post box! All of my beauty subscription boxes in the UK will not fit in a normal sized US postbox, which made me a bit nervous thinking it was a box of micro samples. Thank goodness when I opened the box, there was a well rounded selection of deluxe samples and full sized products. And oh my, I love the clear green vinyl bag it comes with! Not that I need another bag, but it is a fun bonus.
First up, has been one of my staples for years, a handy travel size 10ml, bottle of Moroccan Oil original treatment. Morroccan Oil has been my quick saviour from frizz, leaving a healthy shine and not to mention smells delicious. I always have a bottle on hand…plus a little goes a long way!
Next is a 28g, Salon Grafix SGX NYC 3 in 1 dry texture spray. This is a new product to me, and if your like me with long hair a good dry shampoo is so useful. It is light, with a cool plus that can be used as a finishing hairspray. Probably not the best if your looking for a strong hold, but it smells great and your hair feels refreshed during the sweaty summer days…perfect to toss in your bag.
The third item is a 50ml size, Avène Thermal Spring Water spray. This spray is a delight for sensitive skin and has many benefits as a skin anti-inflammatory, relieving skin irritation and speeding up healing…having this around, especially with the boiling Texas sun, makes an awesome makeup refresher…not to mention an aid in soothing the itch from all my pesky mosquito bites!
The forth item is a full size, The BrowGal by Tonya Crooks, brow pencil in shade medium brown 04. I have been using Anastasia brow pomade or powder faithfully, but this is a good change for a more dramatic look, since it is about 2 shades dark than my normal color. It glides on nicely, blends out well too and has lasting power. I applaud the design…having a sharpener attached to the cap is brilliant.
The fifth item is a full size Floss, “My New Favorite Lip Gloss” in clear. I have been sick and tired of bleeding gloppy lip gloss, I pretty much stop using them. I have to say this was a very nice surprise, as far as no sticky mess and it is long wearing. Unfortunately, I do not think this lip gloss wins the coveted title of “my favorite lip gloss”, they missed the mark for me, making this unscented.
The sixth item is Context, Vitamin C All Day Eye Cream, in a 5oz tube. This cream really feels great…I have noticed soft brighten effects, and it sure does hydrate, plus wears well under my makeup. A+ on this product.
Drumroll…as a free gift this month, if your a new subscriber (I do not know if it is only for the month of June) you will receive a 15ml, Sunday Riley, C.E.O. Glow valued at $40. This is one product that has been on my ever growing list of skin essentials to try. I can not wait to do a more in depth review on this product!
Last but not least, the box contains a booklet describing all the products, some discount codes and $20 off coupon to Baublebar…they have some really cute jewellery on their website…but to be honest, probably a coupon I will never take advantage of.
For my first month of the Allure beauty box, I have to say I am very pleased! How could I complain, a box that cost $10 with over $150 of products…and quality, exciting products that I will use…it is a win for me! Fingers crossed July’s box will continue to exceed my expectations.
